Leland Prebble has a common sense plan to turn Michigan and its economy around. Michigan is at point where we need fresh ideas in the Michigan Legislature and Leland Prebble is the person to help turn Michigan around.
Accountability
As your State Representative, Leland Prebble will fight for greater accountability for your state government. We need greater accountability from State Departments, School Districts, local units of government that show an effort to keep taxes down and that our tax dollars are spent wisely. The wasteful spending that we hear about all too often must be reigned in and promote transparency from all State employees and elected officials.
Better Business Climate / Less Red Tape
Leland knows how hard it is to build and maintain a successful business in Michigan. He believes that State Government and the Legislature must offer incentives and fewer restrictions to attract business to help get Michigan working again. Leland also believes that we need to have a regulatory system that is fair and responsive so that business can grow and expand in Michigan, which brings the potential of higher paying jobs. If Michigan businesses succeed, Michigan workers succeed.
Control Government Spending
Leland believes that the Legislature must tighten their belts like average Michigan citizens. With the current economic climate in Michigan, hard working citizens have to make tough decisions about paying their mortgages, filling their gas tanks and putting food on the table. The Legislature must re-evaluate their spending priorities to fund the programs that are necessary in our current economic status and eliminate or postpone programs that are honorable but may not be expedient at this time.

Core Family Values
Leland believes that we can promote core family values such as traditional marriage, ending abortions and promoting faith in God and country. He will fight to keep these values intact and will not waiver.
Illegal Alien Restriction
Leland believes that the State Government must have a plan to combat the illegal alien issue in the State of Michigan. He will promote legislation if elected that will eliminate welfare, health care and other programs that may exist for illegal aliens. The State budget is in dire straits and we need to use ever dollar wisely and not reward the breaking of State & Federal laws.
Gas Tax Adjustments
Leland believes that we need to reevaluate how Michigan determines the Gas Tax. Currently there are three separate gas taxes that occur every time a consumer fills up their tank. The first tax is the Michigan Gas Tax which goes for maintaining our roads. The second tax is the Federal Gas Tax, a portion of which returns back to the state. The third tax is the 6% Sales Tax that goes towards helping our public school systems. With the current system in place the sales tax is actually a tax on top of a tax. Leland believes there needs to be a recalculation of how the sales tax is administered so as to eliminate the double taxation.
Education Finance Reform
Our current system of school funding is not serving the students that it is meant to educate. Leland believes that state funding should be allotted to the student rather than the school district. This would allow families the freedom to send their kids where the education is going to meet the needs of the child. This would also increase the quality of our school districts as they would strive to create conditions that would serve as incentives to keep students in their systems.
